Samdech Khuon Sudary Attends Opening Ceremony of Global Leaders’ Meeting on Women in Beijing

Samdech Maha Rathsapheathika Thipadei Khuon Sudary, President of the National Assembly of the Kingdom of Cambodia, attended the opening ceremony of the Global Leaders’ Meeting on Women, held under the presidency of H.E. Xi Jinping, President of the People’s Republic of China, on Oct. 13 in Beijing.

The Global Leaders’ Meeting on Women, convened under the theme “One Shared Future: New and Accelerated Process for Women’s All-Round Development,” brought together around 1,000 participants, including heads of state, government, and parliamentary leaders from nearly 100 countries, along with representatives of international organisations and development partners.

In his opening address, President Xi Jinping outlined key priorities to accelerate the advancement of women and strengthen global cooperation on gender equality and women’s empowerment.

President Xi Jinping announced a series of new initiatives to further support women’s development worldwide. Over the next five years, China will donate US$10 million to UN Women and contribute US$100 million to the Global South Cooperation Fund for Women and Girls in partnership with other countries.

China will also implement 1,000 small livelihood projects, invite 50,000 women to China annually for exchange and training programmes, and establish a Centre for Women’s Capacity Building and Cooperation to train talented women and foster collaboration with partner nations and institutions.

These commitments, President Xi noted, demonstrate China’s enduring dedication to promoting women’s empowerment, gender equality, and leadership in green transformation and digital innovation.

Samdech Khuon Sudary’s participation in this high-level global forum reflects Cambodia’s continued engagement with international partners to promote gender equality, women’s empowerment, and sustainable development in alignment with the Beijing Declaration and Platform for Action (1995) and the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development.
