Cambodian Prime Minister Samdech Moha Borvor Thipadei Hun Manet participated in a working breakfast with his Lao and Vietnamese counterparts, H.E. Sonexay Siphandone and H.E. Pham Minh Chinh, on the sidelines of the 47th ASEAN Summit and Related Summits in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia this morning.
During the breakfast, the Lao and Vietnamese leaders congratulated Cambodia on the signing of the Kuala Lumpur Joint Declaration on Peace Deal between Cambodia and Thailand, witnessed by H.E. Donald J. Trump, President of the United States of America, and H.E. Dato’ Seri Anwar Ibrahim, Prime Minister of Malaysia.
The three leaders exchanged views on recent developments and shared priorities related to trilateral cooperation across multiple sectors, including economy, trade, tourism, security, and national defence. They agreed to continue strengthening and expanding collaboration, particularly in connectivity, with a focus on transportation networks, electricity supply, and digital payments.
Regarding cooperation with Laos, Samdech Thipadei urged the relevant authorities of both countries to expedite the selection of a site for the construction of a bridge across the Lapov-Xe Lamphao River. With Vietnam, he encouraged both sides to accelerate the determination of the location for the Phnom Penh-Bavet Expressway and Ho Chi Minh-Moc Bai Expressway connection.
In the field of tourism, the leaders of the three countries agreed to instruct their respective tourism ministers to continue discussions aimed at promoting tripartite cooperation under the framework of “Three Countries, One Destination.”
Samdech Thipadei also underlined the importance of private sector participation in boosting regional tourism cooperation.
Besides, Samdech Thipadei expressed his gratitude to Vietnam and Laos for their continued support and participation in the Interim Observer Team (IOT) mechanism and expressed hope that both countries would maintain their engagement and support within the ASEAN Observer Team (AOT) framework.
