Cambodia, Australia Reaffirm Strong Partnership


Cambodian Deputy Prime Minister H.E. PRAK Sokhonn, Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, held talks at the Ministry on Feb. 5 with H.E. Derek Yip, Ambassador of Australia to Cambodia.

According to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, H.E. Deputy Prime Minister expressed satisfaction with the progress of the long-standing relationship between the two countries and considered Australia a trusted partner, as reflected in the fruitful cooperation between Cambodia and Australia in areas of mutual benefit, including trade and investment, defence and security, education, and people-to-people exchanges.

The Cambodian top diplomat further emphasised the importance of high-level exchanges between the two countries, as well as the regular convening of Senior Officials’ Talks, which serve as important mechanisms for further strengthening and expanding bilateral cooperation, as well as for promoting the partnership to a higher level.

In response, H.E. Derek Yip highly commended the strong cooperation between the two countries and the outcomes achieved by the Royal Government of Cambodia in combating online scams.

H.E. Ambassador also reaffirmed his commitment to continue working closely with relevant Cambodian institutions to achieve further tangible outcomes during his tenure in Cambodia.

H.E. Deputy Prime Minister briefed H.E. Ambassador on the latest developments along the Cambodia-Thailand border and reaffirmed Cambodia’s commitment to upholding the ceasefire agreement and refraining from any actions that could result in the loss of lives on either side.
