Cambodia, Australia Deepen Trade and Investment Cooperation

Cambodia and Australia have vowed to deepen their bilateral cooperation on trade and investment.

The commitment was made in a meeting on Mar. 26 in Yaoundé city, Cameroon between H.E. Mrs. Cham Nimul, Minister of Commerce ant Hon. Matt Thistlethwaite MP, Assistant Minister for Foreign Affairs and Trade of Australia.

During the meeting, both sides discussed bilateral trade relations and ongoing cooperation between Cambodia and Australia.

Discussions focused on key trade issues, including the implementation of the Regional Comprehensive Economic Partnership (RCEP) Agreement and the ASEAN-Australia-New Zealand Free Trade Agreement (AANZFTA).

The two sides also exchanged views on the expected outcomes of the 14th Ministerial Conference (MC14), highlighting the importance of strengthening the multilateral trading system, advancing WTO reform, and addressing development-related priorities.

Both parties reaffirmed their commitment to continued cooperation and dialogue to further deepen trade and economic ties.

In 2025, the trade relationship between Cambodia and Australia saw a notable expansion, characterised by a steady increase in bilateral volume and the historic entry of new Cambodian agricultural products into the Australian market.

The total two-way trade in goods for 2025 reached approximately US$600 million, reflecting a growth of nearly 10 percent from the previous year.
