A high-level delegation of investors and business leaders representing 25 Chinese institutions has met with senior Cambodian officials to explore strategic and large-scale investment opportunities across key sectors of Cambodia’s economy.
The delegation, led by Dr. Wang Boyong, Vice President and Secretary-General of the Beijing-headquartered China Institute for Innovation and Development Strategy, paid a courtesy visit and held a discussion meeting with H.E. Sun Chanthol, Deputy Prime Minister and First Vice Chairman of the Council for the Development of Cambodia (CDC), on Aug. 31 at the CDC headquarters.
Coordinated by the Cambodia National Trade and Investment Promotion Association, the mission aimed to provide Chinese enterprises with firsthand insights into Cambodia’s regulatory framework, investment incentives and high-potential sectors.
During the meeting, H.E. Sun Chanthol highlighted Cambodia’s competitive advantages, including sustained macroeconomic stability, favourable investment legislation and attractive incentives, a young and dynamic workforce, and strategic regional connectivity.
“The Royal Government of Cambodia consistently regards the private sector as the engine of economic growth and an indispensable partner in national socio-economic development,” he said.
H.E. Sun Chanthol also highlighted the government’s new “Open Day with DPM” initiative, a proactive investor-aftercare programme designed to maintain direct dialogue with business leaders and address technical concerns in a timely manner.
During the discussion, members of the delegation presented their business plans and raised specific questions concerning market entry, legal frameworks and priority investment sectors.
China has remained Cambodia’s largest source of approved investment. In 2025, Chinese investment in Cambodia reached US$5.42 billion, accounting for 54.25 percent of the country’s total approved investment capital.
The Cambodia-China Free Trade Agreement (CCFTA) and the Regional Comprehensive Economic Partnership (RCEP) have further strengthened bilateral trade and created additional opportunities for investment between the two countries, said Mr. Lim Heng, Vice-President of the Cambodia Chamber of Commerce.
“Under the Cambodia-China FTA and RCEP, Chinese and other foreign investors consider Cambodia a potential export and investment hub,” he stressed.
