Switzerland to Assist in Restoration of Cambodia’s Forest Cover

Switzerland is committed to supporting the Cambodian Ministry of Environment on forest cover restoration.

The commitment was made by H.E. Pedro Zwahlen, Ambassador of Switzerland to Cambodia, Thailand, and Laos, during a meeting with H.E. Eang Sophalleth, Minister of Environment, on Oct. 10 at the ministry.

The move is expected to contribute to Cambodia’s ambition to secure carbon neutrality and achieve the government’s goal of 60 percent forest cover by 2025.

H.E. Eang Sophalleth informed H.E. Pedro Zwahlen of the ministry’s on-going campaign to plant at least 1 million trees.

H.E. Pedro Zwahlen supported the initiative and looked forward to working with the ministry on more interventions on climate change mitigation and natural resource management.
