The Cambodian People’s Party (CPP) welcomes and is ready to accept proposals from political parties to form an alliance with the ruling party in a fair and equitable manner.
In a voice message released this afternoon, Samdech Akka Moha Sena Padei Techo Hun Sen, President of the ruling CPP stated that his party is satisfied with the alliance on the basis of respect for the independence of respective parties.
“We really need the cooperation between political parties in Cambodia to achieve the goal of maintaining peace to ensure long-term development,” Samdech Techo Hun Sen said.
“The CPP is satisfied to work with other political parties by respecting their independence and treating them as equal partners of the CPP,” he added.
On Wednesday, scores of nearly 20 political parties announced their intention to form an alliance with the CPP for reason of making solidarity, national unity, elimination of extremist political culture and opportunities to participate in the national development.
The CPP president also mentioned about the future meeting between CPP and the above-said political parties to discuss the draft cooperation agreement.
Eighteen political parties contested in the July General Election for the 125 seats at the National Assembly. The ruling CPP led by Samdech Techo Hun Sen won 120 parliamentary while the FUNCINPEC Party of Prince Norodom Chakravuth gained the remaining five seats.
