Cambodian Foreign Minister To Attend The 1st Mekong-U.S. Partnership Ministerial Meeting Tomorrow


H.E. Prak Sokhonn, Cambodian Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, will participate in the inaugural ceremony of the 1st Mekong-U.S. Partnership Ministerial Meeting to be held on Sept. 11 in the format of video conference.

His forthcoming participation will be made at the invitation of H.E. Pham Binh Minh, Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Socialist Republic of Viet Nam, said the Cambodian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation in a press release made public this morning.

The Meeting will be co-chaired by H.E. Pham Binh Minh and The Honorable Michael R. Pompeo, Secretary of State of the United States of America, it pointed out.

In the Meeting, it underlined, the Ministers will discuss on ways and means that the Mekong-U.S. Partnership could contribute to regional sustainable development and prosperity as well as to strengthen partnership among Mekong countries and the U.S. under this new Partnership.

According to the same source, the Mekong-U.S. Partnership is elevated from the Lower Mekong Initiative (LMI). The 1st Mekong-U.S. Partnership Ministerial Meeting will serve as an opportunity for the Mekong countries and the U.S. to review the past achievements and chart the future direction of this Partnership.
