Cambodia Attends 167th Annual Meeting of BIE


Cambodia has attended the 167th annual meeting of the Bureau International des Expositions (BIE), according to the Ministry of Commerce.

The meeting was hosted early this week by Paris, France through a videoconference under the presidency of Mr. Jai-chul Choi, President of the BIE Executive Committee and Mr. Dimitri Kerkentzes, BIE Secretary General.

Cambodian delegate to the BIE H.E. Chhuon Dara, Secretary of State at the Ministry of Commerce along with many heads of states, ministers, deputy ministers and senior ministers from the 169 BIE member countries participated in the virtual conference.

The meeting discussed reports and the progress of the international expos organised including Dubai World Expo 2020, Milan Triennale 2022 in Italy, International Horticulture Exhibition 2021 in Doha city of Qatar, International Horticulture Exhibition 2022 in Amsterdam city of the Netherland, and Osaka World Expo 2025 in Japan.

In the meeting, the participants witnessed BIE’s enlisting of the World Expo 2025 Osaka Kansai symbolised by the handover of the BIE flag to the expo’s representative Mr. Sadayuki Sakakibara, Japanese Ambassador to Paris.

They also acknowledged the 23rd Triennale di Milano exhibition in Italy as an official international expo event, agreed on the changed timing for International Horticulture Exhibition in Doha city of Qatar from 2021 to Oct. 2, 2023-Mar. 28, 2024, and modified some internal regulations.
