Class Suspension in Phnom Penh, Kandal and Preah Sihanouk Continues


The temporary school shutdown in Phnom Penh capital, Kandal province, and Sihanoukville and Stung Hav district of Preah Sihanouk province will continue until the end of the Feb. 20 Community Event.

The announcement was made this morning by the Ministry of Education, Youth and Sports, at the recommendation of Prime Minister Samdech Akka Moha Sena Padei Techo Hun Sen.

The move, which covers both public and private school institutions, is aimed to avoid COVID-19 spread in schools and prevent larger community transmission.

Meanwhile, all suspended school institutions are advised to continue the online teaching and learning.

As of this morning, Cambodia reported 909 confirmed cases of COVID-19, of which 402 are linked to the Feb. 20 Community Event. A total of 484 patients have successfully recovered with no fatal case.
