Minister of Culture Meets Director of UNESCO WHC in Paris


H.E. Ms. Phoeurng Sackona, Minister of Culture and Fine Arts, has held talks with Director of the UNESCO World Heritage Centre (WHC) Dr. Mechtild ROSSLER and Dr. Jing Feng, Chief of the WHC’s Asia and the Pacific Unit.

The meeting took place yesterday at the UNESCO headquarters in Paris, France.

On the occasion, H.E. Ms. Phoeurng Sackona underlined the progress of the preparation for the listing of Koh Ker Temple as a World Heritage Site in 2022, the conservation affairs of temples in the context of COVID-19 pandemic, and other key works related to Angkor resort.

The meeting also touched on topics concerning the 41st Session of the General Conference of UNESCO to be held in late November 2021 in Paris.

While staying in France, H.E. Ms. Phoeurng Sackona also met with representatives of Ms. Audrey Azoulay, Director-General of UNECSO, and joined the Festival International de Lacoste in Avignon city, during which Khmer traditional dances were performed.
