Cambodia wants to see Singapore being part of the endeavour to succeed the mine-free village campaign in the Kingdom.
H.E. Ly Thuch, Senior Minister and First Vice President of the Cambodian Mine Action and Victim Assistance Authority made the point when receiving H.E. Teo Lay Cheng, Ambassador of Singapore to Cambodia, at CMAA office here in Phnom Penh yesterday.
He also spoke highly of Singapore’s contribution to mine clearing activities in Cambodia so far, particularly through its role as the Chair of the Standing Committee of the ASEAN Regional Mine Action Centre (ARMAC).
The senior minister updated the Singaporean ambassador that with the support from Cambodian Prime Minister Samdech Akka Moha Sena Padei Techo Hun Sen, his authority is rolling out the so-called mine-free village initiative.
So far, he added, a village in Kep province has achieved the mine-free status and CMAA is pushing similar achievement in other villages across Cambodia toward the targeted mine-free Cambodia.
