PM: Country’s Reopening Not to Go Backwards

Samdech Akka Moha Sena Padei Techo Hun Sen, Prime Minister of the Kingdom of Cambodia, expressed his strong commitment to continue the reopening of the country’s social and economic activities as the COVID-19 pandemic has been under control.

While presiding over the inauguration ceremony of the Cambodia-China Friendship Bridge Stung Trang-Kroch Chhmar this morning, Samdech Techo Hun Sen said Cambodia’s reopening will not go backwards, but the Three Dos, Three Don’ts measure and other health safety rules must be strictly implemented.

“No one can get sick for us, therefore we have to protect ourselves,” the Prime Minister underlined.

Samdech Techo Hun Sen added that if all continue to carry out well the preventive measures against the COVID-19 pandemic, our national economic growth will be better than the previous forecast.

“Some forecasts have shown that our economic growth in 2021 will be between 2.4 and 2.8 percent, but with well management of the situation during the last two months of this year, I can forecast around 3 percent growth this year, and over 5 percent next year,” he stressed.

Samdech Techo Hun Sen also appreciated the growth in the agriculture sector and hoped that tourism services will recover in these last two months as well.
