Prime Minister Samdech Akka Moha Sena Padei Techo Hun Sen said Myanmar foreign minister will be invited to pay a visit to Cambodia next week.
“On Dec. 6-7, 2021, Cambodia will invite foreign minister of Myanmar to visit the Kingdom, … and I am also ready to travel to Myanmar without any preconditions as Prime Minister of Cambodia”, he underlined at the inauguration ceremony of 37 roads, wastewater treatment plants and other achievements in Sihanoukville, Preah Sihanouk province this morning.
These are some thoughts of the future Chair of ASEAN who will take over the role in a few days, the Cambodian Premier said.
“I am thinking whether we should keep ASEAN 9 or ASEAN 10, because in the recent ASEAN Summit, we have only 9, this is a problem. Are we willing to destroy our own house to please others? ASEAN must not be compared to the United Nations. […]. The most important point of ASEAN is the consensus, and then it should be 10, not 9,” he stressed.
Samdech Techo Hun Sen said the ASEAN Charter does not require the expulsion of any members.
According to the Prime Minister, ASEAN is like a house with 10 pillars, but now a pillar is broken. So, should it be left like this to satisfy external partners or should ASEAN repair its own house?
“If the house cannot be repaired, what is the so-called solidarity in ASEAN or the centrality of ASEAN?” he asked.
