Senior Minister Sun Chanthol Receives WB Vice President for EAP


Cambodian Senior Minister, Minister of Public Works and Transport H.E. Sun Chanthol received visiting World Bank Vice President for East Asia and Pacific (EAP) Ms. Manuela V. Ferro, to discuss transport sector cooperation and human resource development, at the ministry office here on Mar. 16.

H.E Sun Chanthol profoundly thanked the World Bank for its support for infrastructure development in Cambodia and was optimist that the bank will expand its cooperation with Cambodia in the development of wastewater treatment plant and clean water infrastructure.

H.E. Senior Minister informed his guest of the achieved and ongoing infrastructure development projects, including the improvement project of National Road 4 under a concessional loan from WB. He also sought WB’s support to implement the master plan on waste water management at the capital and some key provinces widely for better well-being of people.

In addition, he briefed Ms. Manuela V. Ferro on some potential sectors and priorities of Cambodia which require close cooperation and support from WB, and laid stress on the objective of establishing the Techo Sen Institute of Public Works and Transport to deal with the lack of technicians in public works and transport sector at present and in the future.

In reply, Ms. Manuel V. Ferro took note of the minister’s requests, saying that WB will study the possibility to dispatch technical experts to strengthen capacity of the ministry’s officials and those of Techo Sen Institute of Public Works and Transport, especially speed up the support for project implementation in Cambodia as soon as possible.
