The United Nations System is committed to support Cambodia through potential sectors such as human capital investment, digital promotion, climate change, and green economy.
The commitment was reaffirmed by Ms. Pauline Tamesis, UN Resident Coordinator in Cambodia, while paying a farewell visit to Samdech Akka Moha Sena Padei Techo Hun Sen, Prime Minister of the Kingdom of Cambodia, at the Peace Palace here this morning, according to H.E. Eang Sophalleth, Assistant to the Cambodian Premier.
The outgoing UN resident coordinator highly valued the good partnership and cooperation with Cambodia and the country’s strong commitment for multilateralism, contribution to maintaining the world peace and stability, and effective leadership in controlling the COVID-19 pandemic.
For his part, Samdech Techo Hun Sen thanked Ms. Pauline Tamesis for her active contribution to the socio-economic development of Cambodia, particularly in the fight against COVID-19.
The Prime Minister recalled the participation of UN System in the docking of Westerdam cruise ship, turned away by many countries amid the COVID-19 fears, at Sihanoukville Autonomous Port on Feb. 13, 2020.
Samdech Techo Hun Sen also informed the UN side of the Royal Government’s policy on COVID-19 vaccination as well as its continued attention to social protection and health sector enhancement.
