Cambodia-U.S. Relationship Reaches Highest Level Ever in Past 72 Years


The relations between Cambodia and the U.S. have reached the highest level ever during the past 72 years, noted Samdech Akka Moha Sena Padei Techo Hun Sen, Prime Minister of the Kingdom of Cambodia, while receiving former U.S. Senator Donald M. Benton in Washington D.C. in the morning of May 11 (Washington D.C. time), on the sidelines of the ASEAN-U.S. Special Summit.

Thanks to this good tie, the volume of bilateral trade and investment is on a remarkable rise, stressed the Premier quoted by H.E. Kao Kim Hourn, Minister Attached to the Prime Minister.

Cambodia really wants to befriend with all countries, including the U.S., reaffirmed Samdech Techo Hun Sen, adding that the Kingdom cannot choose between the U.S. and China as the country adopts a neutral policy as stated in its constitution.

Regarding the ASEAN-U.S. Special Summit, Samdech Techo Hun Sen said it is a rare opportunity for both sides to further strengthen and upgrade their relations from strategic partnership to comprehensive strategic partnership of cooperation, as this year marks the 45th anniversary of their dialogue relations.

Samdech Techo Prime Minister also took the opportunity to express his sincere condolences over the passing of U.S. Senator Douglas John Ericksen.
