PM Informs His Compatriots of Birth Date Correction


The birth date of Prime Minister Samdech Akka Moha Sena Padei Techo Hun Sen was corrected from April 04, 1951 to the real one of Aug. 5, 1952.

Samdech Techo Hun Sen shared the information in a message to his compatriots after the Phnom Penh Municipal Court yesterday issued an order endorsing his request to correct his birth date.

The Premier explained that the correction is to avoid confusion among the national and international dignitaries, the citizens and the general public who have extended to him birthday wishes twice a year.

Samdech Techo Prime Minister has also sent separate messages to Their Majesties the King and Queen-Mother as well as other Cambodian top leaders informing them about the correction.

Samdech Techo Hun Sen was born on Aug. 5, 1952 in Peam Koh Sna commune, Stung Trang district of Kampong Cham province. From 1979 to 1993, he held various positions in the Cambodian administrations – the People’s Republic of Kampuchea and then the State of Cambodia. From 1993 to 1998, he served Cambodia as the Co-Premier and then the second Prime Minister of the first coalition government. After the general elections in July 1998, he became the sole Prime Minister of the Kingdom of Cambodia, leading the royal government until today.
