Cambodia, ERIA Reaffirm Cooperation


Cambodia and Economic Research Institute for ASEAN and East Asia (ERIA) have committed to implement initiatives for deeper bilateral and regional cooperation.

The commitment was made during a meeting between H.E. Pan Sorasak, Minister of Commerce and visiting Prof. Hidetoshi Nishimura, President of ERIA at the ministry this week.

The minister warmly welcomed Prof. Hidetoshi Nishimura and his colleagues to Cambodia and lauded close cooperation between Ministry of Commerce and ERIA, especially in commercial sector capacity building for government officials.

He thanked ERIA for its support for the preparation of the Regional Comprehensive Economic Partnership (RCEP) publication and looked forward to continue close cooperation with the institute both within bilateral and regional framework.

H.E. Pan Sorasak also took the opportunity to share saddest condolence with late H.E. ABE Shinzo’s family, people and government of Japan over the passing of the former Japanese Prime Minister.

Prof. Hidetoshi Nishimura deeply thanked H.E. Pan Sorasak for his sympathy and updated him on 17 ERIA projects contributing to supporting Cambodia as the ASEAN Chair in 2022.

He also requested the minister’s support to promote successful implementation of all the projects.
