Samdech Techo Hun Sen: CPP Properly Implements Racial and Religious Harmony Policy

Samdech Akka Moha Sena Padei Techo Hun Sen, Prime Minister and President of the ruling Cambodian People’s Party (CPP), reaffirmed on Thursday that CPP has carried out well the policy of racial and religious harmony, which allows all religions to coexist.

“From the beginning to the end, the CPP has been properly implementing the racial and religious harmony policy that provides opportunity for all religions to coexist with a common goal,” he said in his opening remarks at the 6th National Inter-Faith Forum Against Human Trafficking themed “Do Not Use Cambodia as Destination for Trafficking in Persons”.

Racial and religious differences are not an obstacle to the national development process, which currently exists in Cambodia, he underlined.

In some countries where human rights and democracy considered to be highly respected, encounters between one religion and another can lead to violence, Samdech Techo Hun Sen added.

Buddhism is the state religion of Cambodia, but the country fully respects the religious freedom. The majority of the population are Buddhist, while the rest follow Islam, Christianity, animism and so on.
