PM Appreciates CLP’s Statement Condemning Insults to the King

Prime Minister Samdech Akka Moha Sena Padei Techo Hun Sen has spoken highly of a statement of the Candlelight Party (CLP) condemning those who intended to insult His Majesty the King.

In a Facebook post this morning, Samdech Techo Hun Sen thanked CLP for issuing the statement at his request made in Kampong Chhnang province yesterday.

In its statement dated Oct. 27, CLP denied any relations with convicted self-imposed exile Sam Rainsy and reaffirmed its respect to the supreme role of His Majesty the King as stipulated in the constitution and its stance against anyone who intentionally insults or abuses the King and the constitutional monarchy, which is protected by the constitution.

On Oct. 26, at a distribution ceremony of rice seeds and foodstuffs to flood-affected families in Kampong Chhnang province, Samdech Techo Hun Sen called on the CLP’s leadership to come out and explain clearly whether Sam Rainsy’s repeated insults and baseless accusations against the King are justified.

They Premier said Sam Rainsy’s video message is an attempt to overthrow the Royal Government and the constitutional monarchy.

Samdech Techo Hun Sen also appealed to the armed forces, as well as supporters of the Cambodian People’s Party and other parties, to be ready to defend the monarchy, the throne, the King and oppose Sam Rainsy, who wanted to overthrow the legitimate Royal Government and insult the King.
