PM Hun Sen Lauds Cambodia-Korea Good Relations


Prime Minister Samdech Akka Moha Sena Padei Techo Hun Sen has praised and expressed his delight with major achievements resulted from the good relations and cooperation between the Kingdom of Cambodia and the Republic of Korea.

The Cambodian Premier made the appreciation while receiving a farewell visit here at the Peace Palace this afternoon from H.E. Park Heung-Kyeong, outgoing Ambassador of the Republic of Korea to Cambodia, according to H.E. Eang Sophalleth, Personal Assistant to Samdech Techo Hun Sen.

For his part, the outgoing diplomat congratulated the Royal Government of Cambodia (RGC) for the success of the ASEAN Summits and Related Summits hosted by Cambodia and the recent ASEAN-EU Summit in Belgium.

H.E. Park Heung-Kyeong profoundly thanked the RGC, Cambodian officials and people for their good cooperation for the success of his diplomatic mission, thus making the relations and cooperation between the two countries stronger.

He recalled some major achievements during his tenure, especially the exchange of visits between both countries’ top leaders, the entry into force of Cambodia-Korea Free Trade Agreement, the Agreement on Double Taxation and the construction of Cambodia-Korea Friendship Bridge connecting the Night Market (Old Market area) in Phnom Penh capital to Arey Ksat area in Kandal province’s Lovea Em district.

Besides, H.E. Park Heung-Kyeong sought support from Samdech Techo Hun Sen to a waste-to-energy project of a Korean company.

In reply, Samdech Techo Prime Minister expressed thanked to the Korean ambassador and government for their support for Cambodia’s ASEAN chairmanship.

For the Cambodia-Korea Friendship Bridge, he considered the bridge as a message of the good relationship between the two countries.

Samdech Techo Hun Sen also welcomed the waste-to-energy project and asked the company to continue to work with H.E. Sok Chenda Sophea, Minister Attached to the Prime Minister, Secretary-General of the Council for the Development of Cambodia, H.E. Suy Sem, Minister of Mines and Energy, and Phnom Penh municipal administration.
