Preah Vihear and Champa Sak Provinces Strengthen Cooperation


Preah Vihear province of Cambodia and Champa Sak province of the Lao PDR, held the 9th Meeting on Cooperation between the two Provinces on Monday this week.

The meeting was held in Pakse city, Champa Sak province. The Cambodian side was led by H.E. Kim Rithy, Governor of Preah Vihear province, while the Lao side was headed by H.E. Vilayvong Boudddakham, Governor of Champa Sak province.

The meeting was aimed at strengthening the bonds of solidarity, friendship and development between both countries’ border provinces.

On the occasion, H.E. Kim Rithy expressed his pleasure and appreciation for the development in all fields, including infrastructure, construction, and human resources in Champa Sak province, and highlighted the close relationship based on friendship, traditional and good neighborhood, and unity.

The Preah Vihear governor highlighted the previous fruitful cooperation in various fields, especially on security, tourism, etc.

At the same time, H.E. Kim Rithy noted some challenges such as cross-border crimes, deforestation, smuggling, hunting, illegal crossing along the border of the two provinces.

H.E. Governor urged both sides to exchange experience with each other, especially in the field of agriculture, as Preah Vihear is the largest province that exports organic rice to European market.

In the meeting, both sides also agreed to continue to strengthen good relations in all areas of cooperation between province and province, especially in key areas such as politics, security, trade, investment, education and culture.
