Cambodia, Malaysia Sign Two Cooperation MoUs


Cambodia and Malaysia this afternoon reached two Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs) on cooperation in the field of labour.

The signing ceremony took place at the Peace Palace in Phnom Penh under the witness of Samdech Akka Moha Sena Padei Techo Hun Sen, Prime Minister of the Kingdom of Cambodia, and visiting Malaysian Prime Minister Honorable Dato’ Seri Anwar bin Ibrahim, following their bilateral meeting.

The first MoU concerns the recruitment, employment and repatriation of workers, while the second is on the recruitment, employment and repatriation of domestic workers between the Government of the Kingdom of Cambodia and the Government of Malaysia.

The documents were inked by H.E. Ith Samheng, Cambodian Minister of Labour and Vocational Training and his visiting Malaysian counterpart.

A high-level Malaysian delegation led by Honorable Dato’ Seri Anwar bin Ibrahim arrived in Phnom Penh this morning for a day-long official visit in Cambodia.

According to the schedule, this afternoon, Honorable Dato’ Seri Anwar bin Ibrahim will be granted a Royal Audience by His Majesty Preah Bat Samdech Preah Boromneath Norodom Sihamoni, King of Cambodia, at the Royal Palace. He will also have separate courtesy calls on Samdech Vibol Sena Pheakdei Say Chhum, President of the Senate, and Samdech Akka Moha Ponhea Chakrei Heng Samrin, President of the National Assembly of the Kingdom of Cambodia.

Besides, the Honorable Prime Minister of Malaysia will join Samdech Techo Hun Sen for the Iftar dinner, and will participate in the Isya’ and Terawikh Prayer with Muslim scholars and the Muslim community in Cambodia.
