New Infrastructure Achievements In Phnom Penh Officially Put Into Official Use

Phnom Penh capital administration this morning put into official use a new cable-stayed concrete bridge crossing the Tonle Sap River and a new overpass, after a few months of temporary use.

The official inauguration ceremony of Russey Keo Bridge and Russey Keo Overpass, which took place in Sangkat Prek Tasek, Khan Chroy Changvar, was presided over by Prime Minister Samdech Akka Moha Sena Padei Techo Hun Sen.

The new infrastructure will play a key role in easing the travel of people in and out Phnom Penh capital, on the National Roads No. 5 and 6.

According to H.E. Khuong Sreng, Governor of Phnom Penh, the construction of Russey Keo Bridge of 922 metres long and 20.5 metres wide began in October 2017 for a period of more than 68 months at a total cost of some US$35 million.

For the overpass, it is located along the National Road No. 5, at the intersection of Street No. 36 in Khan Russey Keo. The construction lasted for more than 16 months since January 2022 and costed over US$9.7 million. The 145-metre-long and 15.8-metre-wide Russey Keo flyover is the 6th of its kind under the collaboration between Phnom Penh capital administration and the private sector.

The inaugurated infrastructure will increase the development potential of the Russey Keo and Chroy Changvar areas, contributing to the capital as well as national growth, underlined H.E. Governor.
