MoU on Phnom Penh-Siem Reap-Poipet Expressway to be Signed This Afternoon

Prime Minister Samdech Akka Moha Sena Padei Techo Hun Sen said a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) that will pave the way for the third expressway – Phnom Penh-Siem Reap-Poipet – is going to be signed in Phnom Penh this afternoon.

Addressing to the groundbreaking ceremony for the construction of Phnom Penh-Bavet Expressway in Kean Svay district this morning, Samdech Techo Hun Sen said he expects to live until the completion of this third expressway.

“We will build more infrastructures to boost our development. Now I feel lost sometimes in Phnom Penh and other areas outside the capital because of the infrastructure development,” he said.

At the same time, the Premier once again spoke highly of the Belt and Road Initiative, thanks to which Cambodia has received various physical infrastructure projects, including airports, roads, bridges and so on.

In March, the Ministry of Public Works and Transport authorised the Chinese state-owned China Road and Bridge Corp (CRBC) to conduct a formal feasible study on this third expressway.
