The communities in the protected areas of Kampong Chhnang’s Srae Ampil Natural Waterfall and Pursat’s Chrok La Eang Waterfall are expecting new eco-tourism infrastructure to help boost their livelihoods.
Minister of Tourism H.E. Say Samal on July 9 led a delegation to monitor the construction of the tourism infrastructure in the two provinces.
Guided by the government’s development of a connected tourism policy, the existence of the new infrastructure will create eco-tourism-driven income generation opportunities for the locals.
The community people will eventually take good care of the forest as well as other natural resources, which are their better alternate livelihoods—the sustainable tourism principle.
Each set of the new tourism infrastructure includes food stalls, toilets, parking lots, camping sites, gardens and parks, sidewalks, and beyond.
The Srae Ampil Natural Waterfall is located in Kdol Sen Chey commune, Teuk Phos district of Kampong Chhnang province, and the Chrok La Eang Waterfall is in Chheu Tom commune, Krakor district of Pursat province, and is a part of Phnom Oral Wildlife Sanctuary.
