Chairman of Vietnamese NA Congratulates Cambodia on Successful Election


H.E. Vuong Dinh Hue, Chairman of the National Assembly (NA) of the Socialist Republic of Viet Nam has sent a congratulatory message to Samdech Akka Moha Ponhea Chakrei Heng Samrin, President of the Cambodian NA on the Kingdom’s successful organisation of the Sunday election and on the victory of the ruling Cambodian People’s Party (CPP).

“I am happy to learn that Cambodia has successfully held the 7th General Election on July 23rd, 2023. The Cambodian People’s Party has achieved a splendid victory and continued to serve as the ruling party. On behalf of the National Assembly of Viet Nam, I would like to convey my warmest congratulation to Samdech President and the people of Cambodia,” he wrote in his message dated July 24.

H.E. Vuong Dinh Hue expressed his firm belief that the people of Cambodia will continue to attain greater achievements on her path towards building a stable, developed and prosperous Cambodia, and that Cambodia’s role and position on the regional and global stage will continue to rise.

“I strongly believe that, this great victory will serve as the strong impetus to push the traditional friendship and comprehensive cooperation between Cambodia and Viet Nam as well as between the two legislative bodies to a new height for the substantial benefit of the people and contribute to peace, stability, cooperation and development in the region and the world,” he added.

The 7th National Election took place on July 23 in 23,789 polling stations throughout the country with the participation of 18 political parties and a high turnout rate of 84.58 percent or 8.2 million of the total 9.7 million eligible voters.

According to the preliminary results released by the National Election Committee (NEC), CPP won landslide victory, followed by the royalist FUNCIPEC Party.
