Cambodia has spoken highly of the international election observers for their great contribution and their fair assessment of the Kingdom’s democratic development.
During his recent meetings in Phnom Penh with different international observer delegations, H.E. Suos Yara, Chairman of the National Assembly (NA) Commission on Foreign Affairs, Intenrational Cooperation, Propaganda and Information (5th Commission), warmly welcomed and highly appreciated their participation in the election observation in Cambodia, emphasising that they contributed greatly to and fairly evaluated the development of democracy in Cambodia.
H.E. Suos Yara continued that the presence of the international observer delegations in Cambodia not only reflected the country’s transparent, free and fair election, but also contributed to promoting the intimate relations, traditional friendship and good cooperation between nations across the world.
The 5th NA commission chairman thanked and was satisfied with the international observers’ accurate assessment of the election and ballot counting process in Cambodia.
In separate press conferences after the election, the international observers concluded that Cambodia’s 7th general election was free, fair and transparent, and that the election results reflected the Cambodian people’s real will.
The 7th National Election took place on July 23 in 23,789 polling stations throughout the country under the witness of nearly 100,000 national and international observers.
According to the preliminary results obtained from the polling stations across the country, the ruling Cambodian People’s Party (CPP) is taking the lead.
The temporary results will be announced on Aug. 5, 2023, and without any complaints related to the results, NEC will proclaim the official results between Aug. 9 and Sept. 5, 2023.
