Acting Head of State Receives Courtesy Visit from Thai PM


Samdech Vibol Sena Pheakdei Say Chhum, Acting Head of State of Cambodia, received here at the Senate Palace this afternoon visiting Thai Prime Minister H.E. Srettha Thavisin.

In the courtesy meeting, Samdech Say Chhum spoke highly of H.E. Srettha Thavisin’s visit to Cambodia, which, he said, gives high attention to the maintenance of the traditional friendship, solidarity and cooperation between the two peoples and countries.

The Acting Head of State conveyed greetings from His Majesty the King and Her Majesty the Queen-Mother of Cambodia to Their Majesties the King and Queen of Thailand, and congratulated H.E. Srettha Thavisin for his election by the Thai Parliament to be the 30th Prime Minister of Thailand.

Samdech Say Chhum encouraged the new governments of the two countries to continue to promote and coordinate the existing mechanisms in order to increase their bilateral trade to US$15 billion in 2025 as planned.

For his part, the Thai Prime Minister expressed his pleasure with the good relations between both countries’ monarchies, and recalled Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn’s scholarships for more than 2,000 Cambodian students to study in Thailand so far.

He hoped that in the future, the two countries and peoples will further enhance their relations and cooperation, mainly in the fields of industry, economy, investment, technology and so on.

He also briefed Samdech Say Chhum on the outcomes of his meeting with Cambodian Prime Minister Samdech Thipadei Hun Manet, which focused on diplomacy, investment, defence, and Cambodian migrant workers in Thailand.

A Thai high-level delegation led by H.E. Srettha Thavisin arrived in Phnom Penh this morning for a day-long visit in Cambodia at the invitation of Samdech Thipadei Hun Manet. Besides, Samdech Say Chhum, the Thai Premier also paid a courtesy call on Samdech Moha Rathsapheathika Thipadei Khuon Sudary, President of the National Assembly of Cambodia.
