Cambodian PM Holds Talks with a Senior CPC Official


Samdech Moha Borvor Thipadei Hun Manet, Prime Minister of the Kingdom of Cambodia, met with H.E. Cai Qi, a Member of the Standing Committee of the Political Bureau of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee and a Member of the Secretariat of the CPC Central Committee, in Beijing, China this afternoon, on the sidelines of the 3rd Belt and Road Forum for International Cooperation.

In the meeting, H.E. Cai Qi warmly welcomed Samdech Thipadei Hun Manet and expressed his hope that the process of building a Community of Common Destiny between Cambodia and China will be further strengthened and expanded.

At the same time, H.E. Cai Qi expressed his willingness to continue to support the Pentagonal Strategy of the Royal Government of Cambodia, and reviewed some major achievements arising from the cooperation within the framework of Belt and Road Initiative for more than 10 years, including the Sihanoukville Special Economic Zone development, Phnom Penh-Sihanoukville Expressway, Siem Reap-Angkor International Airport, and Phnom Penh-Bavet Expressway construction project.

In reply, Samdech Thipadei Hun Manet spoke highly of the excellent ties between the two countries in the past 65 years, and reaffirmed Cambodia’s commitment to further deepening its cooperation with China.

He also laid stress on the importance of “diamond cooperation” between both nations, focusing on six priority areas: politics, quality and production capacity, agriculture, energy, security, and people-to-people exchanges.

Both sides also discussed party-to-party relations aimed at further strengthening cooperation through visit exchange between the two countries senior leadership and youths.
