Cambodia on More Restoration of Forest Cover

The Ministry of Environment has asked a petroleum company, Total Combodge, to invest in tree planting to further restore forest cover in the country.

The request was made by H.E. Eang Sophalleth, Minister of Environment, in a meeting with Ms. Dianah Jogia Kumar, Managing Director of Total Cambodge, at the ministry on Oct. 30.

The effort will eventually contribute to promoting Cambodia’s clean energy transition in line with the ministry’s Circular Strategy 2023–2028, he said.

He also demanded the company to respect environmental safety standards to reduce the impact of emissions on the environment and people’s health.

From her end, Ms. Dianah Jogia Kumar accepted the request that will contribute to Cambodia’s vision to achieve 60 percent of forest cover in the country by 2025.
