The Royal Government of Cambodia (RGC) is determined to do its best to protect the national independence, sovereignty, peace and development.

Prime Minister Samdech Moha Borvor Thipadei Hun Manet expressed the RGC’s firm determination in the presence of His Majesty the King and his compatriots in a mass meeting held here in front of the Royal Palace this morning to mark the 70th National Independence Day and the 70th Founding Anniversary of the Royal Cambodian Armed Forces (Nov. 9, 1953-Nov. 9, 2023).

Independence and peace do not happen by chance, but from the efforts and initiatives of the Cambodians themselves, the Premier underlined in his speech on the occasion.

In this sense, as the descendants of the Cambodian people, the next generation of leaders and on behalf of the entire Cambodian people, Samdech Thipadei Hun Manet vowed to follow the historical and heroic deeds of His Majesty the late King-Father, Preah Borom Ratanak Kaudh, and to join hands under the leadership of His Majesty King Norodom Sihamoni to continue maintaining the independence, sovereignty, peace and development of the Cambodian nation.

The RGC is also committed to building the Kingdom of Cambodia into a liberal, multi-party democracy based on the rule of law, with sustainable and equitable economic growth and better people’s living standard along with dignity and human rights respect, he added.

Besides, he continued, building an inclusive, efficient and financially sustainable social protection system that guarantees people protection in response to economic risks, public health risks and other vulnerabilities; and promoting the development of mine-free Cambodia by 2025 as well as reducing unexploded ordnance to a maximum are part of the RGC’s priorities.

Cambodia will continue to pursue an independent foreign policy based on the rule of law, build good friendship and cooperation with all countries in the world, and actively participate in the causes of peace, stability, security and prosperity in the region and the world, reaffirmed Samdech Thipadei.
