The International Coordination Committee (ICC) for Preah Vihear’s plenary and technical session reaffirmed good progress in the conservation and research of Preah Vihear and Koh Ker temple archaeological sites.
The update was shared in a press release issued on Dec. 11 by the National Authority for Preah Vihear following the 8th plenary and technical session of the ICC-Preah Vihear.
According to the release, the session was presided over by Cambodian Minister of Culture and Fine Arts H.E. Mrs. Phoeurng Sackona at Siem Reap province with the Chinese co-chair Ms. Zhu Ye and Indian co-chair Mr. Richhpal Singh.
Representatives from the body’s five-member states, including Belgium, France, Japan, Thailand, and the United States of America, were also present at the gathering, along with the participation of over 100 relevant national and international institutions, authorities, and researchers.
The session started with congratulating Cambodia on its Koh Ker archaeological site being included on UNESCO’s World Heritage List in September 2023.
It also acknowledged the technical and financial support from India, China, the U.S., and other donors for the conservation and development work.
The ICC-Preah Vihear session was held with the aim of monitoring the conservation and development work of the Preah Vihear and Koh Ker sites executed by the National Authority for Preah Vihear and international partners.
The next technical meeting of the ICC-Preah Vihear will be organised on Mar. 19, 2024, to follow up on the conservation and development work progress for the two temple sites.
