Cambodia is determined to further prevent and crack down on human trafficking in the country.
The commitment was highlighted by Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior H.E. Sar Sokha while he and and Thai Ambassador to Cambodia H.E. Cherdkiat Atthakor were presiding over the official inauguration ceremony of Poipet Transit and Rehabilitation Centre in Poipet city, Banteay Meanchey province on Dec. 18.
The government will increase its cooperation with Thailand and other countries to fight against human trafficking and other crimes in the region and beyond, he added.
Perpetrators and their networks are using modern technology for their crimes, which will affect not only Cambodians but also foreigners in Cambodia.
He underlined the ministry’s priority strategies to address complex human trafficking, including through domestic and international cooperation to prevent all forms of human trafficking and sexual abuse against children.
The strengthening of the criminal justice system and better protection for the victims, especially women and children, is also part of the priorities.
