“Tourist Visa, Employment is not permitted” Banner Put Up to Prevent Human Trafficking

The Ministry of Labour and Vocational Training is collaborating with the Ministry of Interior to prevent human trafficking to Cambodia by putting up the “Tourist Visa, Employment is not permitted” banners at all international border gates of Cambodia.

The banner installation was made following a request from the Minister of Labour and Vocational Training to the Ministry of Interior, said H.E. Heng Sour, Minister of Labour and Vocational Training.

According to H.E. Minister, this is to prevent criminals from tricking foreigners into coming to work illegally in Cambodia, and this banner also shows the victims that they have been deceived.

“This is a new mechanism that makes every foreigner who does not know that with his (tourist) visa, s/he is not allowed to work in Cambodia legally, especially s/he can easily complain to the nearby immigration police to arrest the criminals,” he explained.

H.E. Heng Sour emphasised that the banner installation confirms the will and purpose of the Royal Government of Cambodia under the leadership of Samdech Moha Borvor Thipadei Hun Manet to completely crack down on this crime in the future, although this issue takes time as it is a global issue.
