Cambodia and the United States of America have discussed ways to further boost their cooperation, especially in areas of mutual benefit, including trade, investment, people-to-people relations, and defence and security.
The discussion took place when Cambodian Prime Minister Samdech Moha Borvor Thipadei Hun Manet received visiting H.E. Daniel J. Kritenbrink, U.S. Assistant Secretary of State for East Asian and Pacific Affairs, at the Peace Palace in Phnom Penh on the afternoon of Feb. 26.
Samdech Thipadei Hun Manet expressed warm welcome to H.E. Daniel J. Kritenbrink’s visit to Cambodia and noted the progress of relations and cooperation between the two nations in both bilateral and multilateral frameworks.
For his part, H.E. Daniel J. Kristenbrink emphasised the U.S.’ commitment to continue working closely with Cambodia to further strengthen and expand cooperation, particularly during the time that Cambodia will act as the ASEAN Country Coordinator for the ASEAN-U.S. Dialogue Relations (from July 2024 to July 2027).
H.E. U.S. Assistant Secretary of State also praised the Royal Government of Cambodia’s position on regional and international affairs, including Cambodia’s success as ASEAN Chair in 2022.
