Cambodia and South Korea Vow for Cooperation in Labour Sector

Cambodia and South Korea are committed to expanding their cooperation in the labour, vocational training, and social security sectors.

The commitment was made in a meeting between H.E. Heng Sour, Minister of Labour and Vocational Training, and H.E. Lee Jung-Sik, Minister of Employment and Labour of the Republic of Korea, in Seoul late last last week.

H.E. Heng Sour thanked the South Korean side for the Employment Permit System (EPS), which has since 2006 allowed Cambodian workers to gain new knowledge, skills, and experience and improve their living conditions.

The minister requested H.E. Lee Jung-Sik to bring the skilled worker programme to a new height.

He also sought possible cooperation among Cambodian and South Korean concerned agencies to roll out social security schemes among Cambodian migrant workers in the latter.

H.E. Lee Jung-Sik accepted the minister’s request and pledged to study it carefully as soon as possible.
