Minister of Commerce of Cambodia H.E. Mrs. CHAM Nimul received a courtesy call from a visiting Australian delegation of major companies to discuss economic, trade and investment opportunities in Cambodia, at the ministry office in Phnom Penh on July 10.
The Australian delegation was led by H.E. Dr. CHEUNBORAN Chanborey, Ambassador of Cambodia to Australia and New Zealand, accompanied by Mr. Tan Sith Tee, President of the Cambodia Chamber of Commerce in Melbourne.
The meeting was also aimed to learn more about the economic, trade and investment environment in Cambodia, build network, study Cambodian markets and Cambodia-Australia cooperation.
On the occasion, H.E. Dr. CHEUNBORAN Chanborey briefed the minister about the visiting Australian delegation and their business activities which focus on the fields of agriculture, agri-food, technology, education, renewable energy, infrastructure, logistics, and heath.
For her part, H.E. Mrs. CHAM Nimul underscored the ministry’s strategy to promote Cambodian products, investment and tourism through Cambodian Private Business Centre overseas, and suggested that Cambodia Chamber of Commerce in Melbourne should study the possibility of opening a Cambodian Private Business Centre with representatives from private sector applying to the ministry first.
Earlier on the same day, H.E. Mrs. CHAM Nimul received Mr. Geoffroy Roux de Bézieux, President of the Alliance of French-Speaking Employers, to discuss the progress and opportunities of bilateral cooperation in trade and investment between Cambodia and French-speaking countries, as well as to exchange views on the preparation of the 6th Meeting of Francophone Entrepreneurs to be held as a side event of the 20th Francophone Summit in 2026 with Cambodia’s candidacy as the host country.
Besides, the minister also presided over the second Breakfast Meeting with the Business Associations in Cambodia to share the Ministry of Commerce’s achievements in public service provision in the support of private sector, as well as to hear their challenges and suggestions in order to improve Cambodia’s business environment to issue effective and efficient measures.
