Phnom Penh Hosts 5th Cambodia-Indonesia JCBC Meeting


The 5th Cambodia-Indonesia Joint Commission for Bilateral Cooperation (JCBC) Meeting is being held in Phnom Penh for two days from Aug. 20 to 21.

The Meeting is co-chaired by H.E. SOK Chenda Sophea, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation and visiting H.E. Ms. Retno LP. Marsudi, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Indonesia.

According to a press release of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation (MFAIC), the Meeting will review significant progress since the 4th JCBC Meeting in Jakarta, including the implementation of its Agreed Minutes, and set future directions to further advance the long-standing relations between the two countries and expand mutually beneficial cooperation.

The same source continued that the two ministers will discuss in depth the goal of further fostering strong ties across the board in all fields such as trade and investment, agriculture, education, health, labour, environment, transport, tourism, culture, and political-security cooperation.

Regional developments and international issues of common interest and concern are also on the agenda of the meeting, said MFAIC.

The 5th JCBC Meeting coincides with the 65th Anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations of Cambodia and Indonesia.

During her stay in Cambodia, H.E. Ms. Retno LP. Marsudi is scheduled to pay a courtesy call on Samdech Moha Borvor Thipadei HUN Manet, Prime Minister of Cambodia.
