A delegation of Xiamen Municipal Committee of the Chinese People’s Political Consultative Conference, led by its Chairman Mr. Wei Keliang, has been on a visit to Cambodia to discuss and exchange information about Cambodia-China relations and investment potential.
The visiting Chinese delegation was received by H.E. SUN Chanthol, Deputy Prime Minister and First Vice President of the Council for the Development of Cambodia (CDC), at the CDC’s headquarters on Aug. 20.
On the occasion, H.E. SUN Chanthol expressed his warm welcome and thanked the Government and people of China for their contribution to Cambodia’s socio-economic development so far, which resulted in close cooperation in all fields such as economy, trade, investment, culture, and tourism, as well as the regional and international affairs.
Mr. Wei Keliang updated H.E. SUN Chanthol about information related to Xiamen port city, mainly its economy, trade, investment, and tourism.
He was also optimistic about the signing of Sister City Alliance between Cambodia’s Preah Sihanouk province and China’s Xiamen city on Aug. 19, 2024 to build relationship and cooperation in all sectors, especially in coastal management, ports, industry, trade and tourism.
The CDC vice president also informed his guests about the initiative to establish Free Trade Zone, and suggested that Preah Sihanouk province and Xiamen city should mutually promote their potential and opportunities, and organise business matching events.
In the same afternoon, H.E. SUN Chanthol received a group of twelve Chinese companies led by Mr. Zhao Yudong, Chairman of Everbright Group Everbright Sunshine Asset Management Co., Ltd., who have been studying the possibility to invest in Cambodia in the areas of infrastructure, industry, energy, and so on.
H.E. SUN Chanthol briefed his guests about Cambodia’s favourable investment environment, and the CDC’s readiness to facilitate all investments in Cambodia.
Mr. Zhao Yudong appreciated H.E. SUN Chanthol’s sharing of information about Cambodia’s investment potential and opportunities, and was also positive to invest in the above-said domains.
