A Cambodian delegation led by H.E. Om Romny, Secretary of State at the Ministry of Education, Youth, and Sports, has attended the 2024 China-ASEAN Education Cooperation Week in Guizhou province, the People’s Republic of China.
Addressing the opening ceremony of the event on Aug. 21, H.E. Om Romny underlined key reforms in Cambodia’s schools, focusing on STEM teaching, the backbone of innovation, and future industry.
The reform equips students with a culture of curiosity and critical thinking and provides them with the necessary tools for understanding and solving problems so that they can be ready for their higher education and post-graduation, he added.
Organised by China’s Ministries of Foreign Affairs and Education, in collaboration with the China-ASEAN Centre and the Southeast Asia Ministers of Education Organisation, the 2024 China-ASEAN Education Cooperation Week was themed “People-to-People Exchange and China-ASEAN Cultural Exchange”.
The event aimed to strengthen cooperation in education and people-to-people exchange, as well as share the implementation of projects and activities related to education reform, international cooperation in digital education, industrial cooperation, and research studies on relevant topics.
Some 4,000 senior representatives from China and ASEAN member states, One-Belt-One-Road member countries, and other stakeholders joined the event.
