Cambodia Requests Xiamen Xiangyu Group Corp to Investment in Port and Logistics Sectors

Cambodian high-ranking official has requested Xiamen Xiangyu Group Corporation (XMXYG) to consider the possibility to invest in Cambodia, particularly in port and logistics sectors.

The request was made by H.E. SUN Chanthol, Deputy Prime Minister and Fist Vice President of the Council for the Development of Cambodia (CDC), in a meeting with XMXYG’s representative in Xiamen port city of China’s Fujian province on Sept. 7, following his visit to Xiamen Area of China (Fujian) Pilot Free Trade Zone, according to CDC.

On the occasion, H.E. SUN Chanthol highlighted Cambodia’s investment opportunities and potential, and interconnected infrastructure projects in support for the private sector’s investment such as roads, bridges, ports, and Funan Techo Canal project to name a few.

Located on an area of 43.78 square kilometres, XMXYG was established in 2015 and serves as a hub for maritime trade and shipping, making Fujian province as well as China easier to connect to the world.

During the visit to Xiamen Area of China (Fujian) Pilot Free Trade Zone, the Xiamen Municipal People’s Government shared China’s experience in the establishment of Pilot Free Trade Zone equipped with state-of-the-art technology.

The Xiamen Area of China (Fujian) Pilot Free Trade Zone and the CDC will consider the possibility of having closer collaboration to attract more Chinese private companies to invest in Cambodia to contribute to promoting the Kingdom’s socio-economic diversification.

H.E. SUN Chanthol has been on a working visit to Xiamen and Beijing of China from Sept. 6 to 10.
