Senior delegates of the Internationale démocrate centriste-Centrist Democrat International (IDC-CDI) have lauded peace, national unity and development of Cambodia, during their separate courtesy calls on Cambodian Prime Minister in Siem Reap province this afternoon, on the sidelines of the IDC-CDI Executive Committee Meeting.

H.E. André Pastrana Arango, President of IDC-CDI, and H.E. Ferdinand Martin G. Romualdez, Speaker of the House of Representatives of the Philippines, also lauded the smooth organisation of the IDC-CDI Executive Committee Meeting by Cambodia.

All participating delegates hope to gain more experience from Cambodia, which has achieved this important peace, H.E. André Pastrana Arango, also former President of Colombia, told the Cambodian Premier, thanking the Kingdom for her support to mine clearance operation in Colombia.

In reply, Samdech Thipadei highly appreciated the IDC-CDI’s participation in the election observation in Cambodia in the past. He highlighted that the IDC-CDI Executive Committee Meeting took place at a time when the world is facing many challenges, and this meeting has become a platform for all to build further connections and relationships and provide an opportunity to contribute to solving some important challenges.

For his part, Philippine House Speaker H.E. Ferdinand Martin G. Romualdez expressed his satisfaction with the progress in the Philippine-Cambodian relations and thanked the Royal Government of Cambodia for welcoming and caring for the Filipinos who choose to work and visit Cambodia.

Samdech Thipadei Hun Manet said both countries still have room for cooperation, and he will pay an official visit to the Philippines in early 2025, at the invitation of H.E. Ferdinand Marcos Jr., President of the Philippines, to further foster the cooperation between the two countries.

Both sides also discussed the promotion of cooperation in several key areas, including agriculture and food security, tourism and the possibility of additional direct flight connections, people-to-people relations, health, defence and security, and exchanged views on a number of regional and international issues of common interest to the two nations.
