Cambodian Prime Minister Samdech Moha Borvor Thipadei Hun Manet and Philippine Senate President H.E. Francis G. Escudero have highly appreciated the fruitful results of the good relations and cooperation between the two countries.
The two leaders made the remarks during their meeting in Manila on Feb. 11, as part of Samdech Thipadei’s two-day official visit to the Philippines.
H.E. Francis G. Escudero is optimistic about the friendly relations and cooperation between the Philippines and Cambodia, and hoped that after this visit, the relationship between both nations will be more active and prosperous. Moreover, the implementation of the eight memorandums of understanding and agreements signed on Feb. 11 will achieve good results for the greater benefit of both nations. Samdech Thipadei Hun Manet highly valued the good and long-standing relations between the two countries and is convinced that the bilateral cooperation would continue to yield better results.
In addition to political and diplomatic relations, the areas of economy, trade, and investment still have many potential opportunities to accelerate the pace of cooperation between both nations, he said.
In this sense, he underlined, Cambodia can become a potential partner in ensuring food security of the Philippines, especially through Cambodia’s rice surplus with high quality and competitive prices.
The Cambodian Premiere and the Philippine Senate President also discussed promoting people-to-people ties and direct flight connections between the two countries, especially the Manila-Siem Reap-Manila and Cebu-Siem Reap-Cebu routes, which will create a synergy in promoting tourism by attracting tourists from outside the region to visit both countries and the ASEAN region.
Samdech Thipadei Hun Manet invited H.E. Francis G. Escudero and the Philippine senators to visit Cambodia at an appropriate time, stressing that Cambodia will always look forward to welcoming them warmly.
