Samdech Akka Moha Sena Padei Techo Hun Sen, President of the Senate of Cambodia, received H.E. NISHIMURA Yasutoshi, Member of Japan’s House of Representatives and former Minister of Economy, Trade and Industry, during a courtesy call at the Senate Palace in Phnom Penh this morning.
On the occasion, H.E. Nishimura Yasutoshi praised the strong and growing relations between Japan and Cambodia, highlighting cooperation in areas such as mine clearance, increased Japanese investment in Cambodia, Cambodia’s support for Japan’s Indo-Pacific Strategy, and the recent port call by vessels of the Japan Maritime Self-Defence Force at the Ream Naval Base.
In reply, Samdech Techo Hun Sen expressed his gratitude to the Japanese side for their active contribution to the peace-seeking and development efforts of Cambodia. He spoke highly of the growing cooperation between the two countries in various fields, including politics, security, trade, investment, infrastructure, etc.
The Senate President also underscored Japan’s valuable contributions to Cambodia’s physical infrastructure development, particularly in road and bridge construction and the ongoing development of the Sihanoukville Autonomous Port.
In addition, Samdech Techo Hun Sen shared his perspectives on the evolving global trade landscape, noting how trade tensions have contributed to shifts in the global production chain.
