Phnom Penh Hosts Interfaith Dialogue between Buddhism and Christianity

Phnom Penh has hosted the 8th Buddhist-Christian Colloquium to further promote the harmony of the two religions to build peace through reconciliation and tolerance.

Minister of Cult and Religion H.E. Chay Borin presided over the official opening of the dialogue on May 27 at the Cambodian Catholic Community.

Addressing the function, the Minister emphasised the Royal Government of Cambodia’s endeavour not only to harmonise state and other religions but also to encourage religious teachings that promote moral values in the society.

Themed “Working Together for Peace Through Reconciliation and Resilience,” the 8th Buddhist-Christian Colloquium serves as a platform to build awareness of common values and diversities of the two religions for mutual understanding and unity.

Religious harmony does not only promote peace and social unity in Cambodia but also in the larger region and the world, he added.

The dialogue will focus on harmonious living, joint humanitarian actions, and mutual learning and sharing of each other’s beliefs and experiences.
