MISTI Minister Receives Manulife to Discuss Support for Informal Economy

H.E. Hem Vanndy, Minister of Industry, Science, Technology & Innovation, received here on June 25 a delegation from Manulife Cambodia to explore new ways to support informal economy actors.

According to the Ministry of Industry, Science, Technology & Innovation (MISTI), the meeting focused on Manulife’s proposal to offer free group personal accident insurance and financial literacy programmes to the informal sector who onboard the government’s informal economy digital platform.

H.E. Hem Vanndy extended appreciation to Manulife for contributing to the Royal Government in providing this benefit.

“We understand that onboarding informal economy on the digital platform is just the first step. With these benefits, the informal sector will have additional protection and support,” H.E. Minister said. “This public-private partnership aligns with the government’s ongoing efforts to develop the informal economy.”

Manulife Cambodia’s Chief Executive Officer Rotha Chan emphasised the company’s long-term commitment to Cambodia’s development and its desire to work with MISTI to bring the proposed benefits to more informal business owners across the country.
