Philippine President and First Lady Begin State Visit to Cambodia


H.E. Ferdinand Romualdez Marcos Jr., President of the Republic of the Philippines, accompanied by First Lady Louise Araneta-Marcos, commenced their three-day State Visit to the Kingdom of Cambodia this afternoon, at the invitation of His Majesty Preah Bat Samdech Preah Boromneath Norodom Sihamoni, King of Cambodia.

They were warmly welcomed upon their arrival at Phnom Penh International Airport by H.E. Huot Hak, Minister of Tourism as Minister-in-Attendance, and many other senior officials.

According to a press release of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, during his stay, H.E. Marcos Jr. will pay a courtesy call on Samdech Akka Moha Sena Padei Techo Hun Sen, Acting Head of State, and hold bilateral talks with Samdech Moha Borvor Thipadei Hun Manet, Prime Minister of Cambodia, at the Peace Palace.

Both sides will discuss ways to further deepen the close relations and enhance mutually beneficial cooperation between the two countries, as well as exchange views on regional and international issues of common concern. The visit will also witness the signing of several bilateral cooperation documents.

In addition, the Philippine President will lay wreaths at the Independence Monument and at the Royal Memorial of His Majesty Preah Bat Samdech Preah Norodom Sihanouk “Preah Borom Ratanak Kaudh,” the late King-Father of Cambodia.

The State Visit is expected to contribute to strengthening the bonds of friendship, solidarity, and cooperation in all areas between Cambodia and the Philippines.
