China’s Sinomach Hainan Development Eyes Cashew Investment in Cambodia

A delegation from Sinomach Hainan Development Co., Ltd., led by Mr. David Zou Zhun, Head of the Agricultural Department, has visited Cambodia to explore investment opportunities in the cashew industry.

The investment plan was revealed during a courtesy call on H.E. Chea Vuthy, Secretary General of the Cambodian Investment Board of the Council for the Development of Cambodia (CDC), at the CDC headquarters in Phnom Penh this morning.

Mr. Zou informed H.E. Secretary General that the company intends to implement the investment in three stages, processing 30,000 tonnes, 200,000 tonnes, and 500,000 tonnes of cashew nuts per year in the first, second, and third stages, respectively.

He also highlighted the company’s development partners, including Kampu Nuts Agro Product, Hangzhou Baichen Food Co., Ltd., Hangzhou Jiabin Agricultural Park, and Hangzhou Weiying Trading Co., Ltd.

Welcoming the delegation, H.E. Chea Vuthy expressed appreciation for their direct study of Cambodia’s investment opportunities and climate, particularly in the cashew industry. He underlined the Royal Government’s strong attention to promoting cashew industry development and attracting companies equipped with state-of-the-art technology.

He also briefed the delegation on Cambodia’s cashew value chain—from cultivation, maintenance, harvesting, and storage to processing final products.

Additionally, H.E. Chea Vuthy encouraged Sinomach Hainan Development Co., Ltd. to explore investment opportunities in other potential agricultural products such as cassava, banana, mango, and durian, through value addition, production chains, and processing.
